Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help us weather the storm.
Due to inadequate funding from the City of Kenosha and other municipalities - and no funding at all from Kenosha County or any other government agencies - Safe Harbor Humane Society may be forced to make drastic cuts to the services we provide. Worst of all, after over 106 years of serving the community, we may find ourselves unable to continue.
We have been hit with the perfect storm of an increase in costs of our facility and medications, lack of in-shelter veterinary care, an inability to provide revenue-generating public clinic services, a drastic decrease in adoptions and adoption income to offset care costs, and an increase in the incoming and long stay animal population.
We are currently having difficulty meeting our operating expenses, and we will be forced to cut back on the services we are able to offer the animals in our care and our community. This year alone, we have taken in 2,865 lost, displaced and abandoned animals - animals that would have no safe resting place from the elements or dangers of the outside world without us.
We ask you today to Save Our Shelter, we can’t wait, and the alternative is heartbreaking, not only for those of us that have worked tirelessly to make Safe Harbor the lifesaving organization it is today, but for the uncertainty for the thousands of animals we help every year.
Please donate this Giving Tuesday so that we can continue our life-saving mission for the animals of Kenosha County and beyond.
