Safe Harbor understands that surrendering your animal(s) is a difficult decision. Below are some resources to help with this decision. Once you surrender your animal to Safe Harbor, it will become legal property of the Humane Society. No information regarding the welfare or outcome of the animal will be released to you or the general public. Safe Harbor is an open admission shelter, and strives to find permanent placement for each animal that comes to our organization.
Surrender Fee*: $39.00 - $50.00 (tax included) per animal. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment. (For small animals, please try to include cage and food, thank you.) Animals being surrendered for aggression will be $50.00.

To reclaim your animal that came into our shelter as a stray, the fees stated below will be due at the time of pick up. We accept cash, debit, or credit only. If you cannot reclaim your animal, you will need to fill out an owner surrender form. Filling out this form will release ownership of your animal to Safe Harbor. There will be a $39.00 fee to surrender your animal. If you surrender your animal, all kennel fees will be waived. Once your animal comes into Safe Harbor, you will have 5 days to reclaim or surrender your animal. After 5 days, the animal will legally become property of Safe Harbor. If in the 7 days you choose to neither reclaim or surrender your animal, you will receive a bill for the kenneling fees via mail.
Reclaim Fees*: $39.00 (tax included). A $17.00 (+tax) per day boarding fee is charged after the first day. Reclaim Fees must be paid by cash, debit or credit card. The $39 fee doubles the second time an animals comes in ($78) and triples the third time ($117) your animal comes into our facility within a year.
